David S. Dodge In Memoriam
The Near East Foundation is deeply saddened to announce the death of David S. Dodge, friend of us all.
Mr. Dodge served as president of the Near East Foundation from 1976 to 1978, and has been a member of the board of trustees since 1983, the first 15 years as chairman. His grandfather, Cleveland H. Dodge, founded the organization in 1915.
Mr. Dodge was widely known and respected for his intimate knowledge of the Middle East, his generosity and graciousness, and his determined commitment to helping those less fortunate. He traveled widely in his long association with the Near East Foundation to Egypt, Jordan, Mali, Morocco, and Palestine.
Mr. Dodge cared deeply about the staff and beneficiaries of this organization and earned everyone's affection and admiration. He oversaw our evolution into a unique institution whose self-sustaining projects are developed and implemented by professional staff from the countries that we serve.
David Dodge was a wonderful man, a wise counselor, tireless supporter and warm colleague. We miss him greatly.
